Buckinghamshire County Council selects opensky Data Systems’ Integrated Waste Data Management System (iWDMS) to manage the County’s waste data

Posted on Jan 16, 2018

The IWDMS online platform will support the Waste Team at Buckinghamshire, in achieving the council’s aim of utilising an advanced management system to manage waste data with an opportunity for improved monitoring and information transfer, and the future potential for cross-council sharing management information.  The key benefits for the Council will be –

  • customer and partners can self-serve
  • fulfils government reporting requirements
  • an opportunity to decrease waste resource
  • internal integration of all data providing better auditing
  • provides reporting and waste management data

Buckinghamshire County Council were looking for a new, proven, “off the shelf”, cloud based system with minimal bespoke development that offered value for money and the potential to deliver efficiency savings to the Council. A key requirement of the new system is to allow the Waste Collection Authorities and Contractors to upload data for approval.  Once data has been approved it will be used for reporting by Buckinghamshire County Council for a variety of reporting requirements including WasteDataFlow.  The system will also be used for the verification and approval of recycling credit claims.

While IWDMS has been helping waste teams in 2 tier councils for several years now, this contract will see the development of some new features, including additional data access for contractors, bulk rate updates for gate fees and interfaces for advanced analytics.

Commenting on opensky Data Systems signing of the contract, Peter Hutt, Product Manager at opensky said, “We are looking forward to working with the Buckinghamshire waste teams, who are leading innovators in the use of technology for municipal waste management. We continue to invest and perfect the platform to make sure its features are relevant, helpful and user friendly to municipal and governmental Waste teams across the globe”.
